Getting to Know London’s Candidates
What makes a good mayor? Is it leadership? Experience? The promises they make? Or is it something more?
With London’s municipal election approaching, I’ve been dedicating the past few weeks of Steve’s Reflections to conversations with some of the candidates vying to become our next mayor. My goal has been simple: to give Londoners an opportunity to get to know the people behind the campaigns, hear what they stand for, and consider how their ideas connect with the issues facing our community.
For the third and final episode in this series, I sat down with Kirsten Krose on the lovely patio at the London Bicycle Café.

In a crowded field of candidates, Kirsten has established herself as a prominent voice in this campaign, participating in mayoral debates and attracting considerable media attention. I was interested in hearing more about her platform, the changes she believes London needs, and what she would bring to the role of mayor.
On October 12, I’ll be joining my Loon colleague, Matt Brown, on Buckle Up where we will discuss some of my takeaways from these conversations and dig into a couple of the more controversial campaign pledges we’ve heard during this race.
In the meantime, I hope you’ll take some time to get to know Kirsten through this interview. More importantly, I hope these conversations are helping you connect the issues that matter to you with the candidates asking for your vote. An informed electorate is essential to a strong community, and choosing our next mayor is an opportunity to help shape London’s future.
Happy Thanksgiving!
