We’re halfway through 2026 - So, as the summer solstice slips past up, I have a call to Action for you. Let’s make 2026 a good year for London!
With a wonderful park system, award-winning neighbourhoods, world class education and healthcare, and a diverse economy all nestled between 2 great lakes and built among some of the most fertile farmland in Canada, London really is a great place to be and for those of us lucky enough to call it home....we drew the ace of spades in life’s poker game!
I truly believe that introductory paragraph, but even as I wrote it, I was aware that some will be saying “yea, but...” or “it’s not as good as it used to be”. It’s true that we have citizens who don’t get to enjoy the wonderful life London can offer - homelessness, limits on our healthcare, cost of living, social challenges concentrated in some neighbourhoods are all present and need our continued attention. Not only do they result in many Londoners suffering, but they also diminish quality of life for everyone in our great city.
We’re now half way through 2026. In this week’s Steve’s Reflections, I offer a call to action....most of us have some capacity to help write London’s future. We can take actions now that will help ensure London ends 2026 better than it started.
